VOLUNTEER RESOURCES

Our Vision

To see every child know and follow Jesus by the time they reach middle school.

Our Goals for 2026-2027

1. That we would know the name and spiritual condition of every child and their household.

Achieved through encouraging conversations and asking questions of kids in intimate group settings such as Bible for Life and Explorer Club Small Groups, and reaching out to parents to talk about their child’s spiritual wellbeing and encouraging them in their parenting.

As measured by being able to not only know the name and family of a child, but to be able to discern where they are on their Spiritual Pathway by January 1, 2027.

With the goal of pointing a child to know Jesus, and if saved, discipling them to follow Jesus in their daily life.

2. For every elementary child to be actively reading the Bible at church and at home.

Achieved through providing opportunities to open a Bible and read (in accordance with their reading capabilities) at church and by providing resources and assignments at home that will encourage them to read.

As measured by every child having a Bible at home and showing evidence of reading it (i.e. filling out the Guidebook every week for Explorers Club) by the end of the school year.

With the goal of helping children see the value of reading and knowing the Bible, and becoming biblically literate for themselves.

3. For our leaders and teachers to create a fun, clean, and safe environment every week.

Achieved through volunteers giving attention and care to their environments as they receive regular instruction, resources, and encouragements to create that welcoming environment.

As measured by completing regular observations of teaching settings and inspecting classrooms weekly to ensure the environment is prepared for the upcoming week of ministry.

With the goal of creating a welcoming environment that both children look forward to coming to and parents feel secure in leaving their child with us.

Sunday Mornings: Gospel Project

Unit 26 (September 13-October 4): Jesus Brings Life

Jesus performed miracles that proved He is the Son of God. These miracles strengthened people's faith, met their needs, and displayed His power over death. Through Jesus, God did what is impossible for us to do on our own: He provided forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.

Optional Theme Idea

For this unit, the classroom transforms into a lakeside picnic pavilion—a peaceful spot by the water where crowds gather to hear Jesus teach. Kids will experience what it’s like to rest by the shore and watch Jesus bring life to everyone who trusts Him. Use blue fabric or paper to create “water” across the floor or walls. Add towels, baskets, paper fish and loaves, and a banner that reads Life by the Lake or Jesus Gives Life. Include a simple cardboard “boat” and baskets labeled Abundant Blessings.

Theme Idea: Lakeside Picnic Pavilion

Session 1: The two characters are setting out picnic baskets for a crowd of visitors. They realize they don’t have enough food for everyone—and laugh about how great it would be if it just multiplied! This sets up the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand.

Session 2: A windy day at the lakeside has the characters chasing baskets. One basket flies away and bobs up and down in the lake’s waves, leading to a conversation about trusting God even when life feels shaky.

Session 3: While cleaning up after the picnic, the characters notice how so many of the people who come to Jesus leave rejoicing. They talk about how His compassion brings healing and joy to everyone who believes.

Session 4: As evening falls, the characters light lanterns around the lakeside and talk quietly about loss and hope. One says, “Even when things seem dark, Jesus brings life again.” The other nods, “That’s what makes Him the Son of God.”
