THE SCRIPTURES: We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, written under the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit. It is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to humanity, without error in the original manuscripts. It is our sole authority and guide for doctrine and conduct, always relevant for living and energized by the Holy Spirit who aids in its interpretation and understanding.
THE TRINITY: We believe there is one living and true God who exists eternally in three co-equal persons who act together in creation, providence, and redemption.
GOD THE FATHER: We believe in God the Father who reigns with both providence and sovereignty over the universe He created. In His essence He is perfect holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself with the activities of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He initiated salvation by sending His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe He is the Father of all those who by faith accept His Son as their Lord and Savior.
GOD THE SON: We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Being fully God and fully man, He revealed God through a sinless life, miracles and teaching. We believe He provided salvation through His atoning death on the cross for all who believe. He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where He rules over all creation and makes intercession for all believers at the right hand of God the Father.
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He inspired men to write the Scriptures, and continues to indwell, seal and give spiritual gifts to all believers for their ministry in the church and the world. We believe that the Holy Spirit personally indwells every believer from the moment that they are saved, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
MANKIND: We believe that God created man in His own image to have fellowship with Him and to exercise stewardship over His creation. As a result, each person is unique, possesses dignity and is worthy of respect. Through the temptation of Satan, Adam chose to disobey God which brought sin and death to the human race and suffering to all creation. As a result, everyone is born with a sinful nature and needs to be reconciled to God.
SALVATION: We believe that salvation is redemption by Christ of the whole person from sin and death. It is offered as a free gift by God to all and must be received personally through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground to justify and save all who believe.
THE CHURCH: We believe the Church is a living, spiritual body throughout the world of which Jesus Christ is the Head of all who believe in Him are members. We believe that the local church is a company of believers who grow together as His disciples through worship, service, fellowship and proclamation of the gospel to the world. Under the leadership of Jesus Christ, each local church is a self-governing body which all members share an equal responsibility in a congregational form of government.
THE ORDINANCES: We believe the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church which are to be administered until His return: water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience that symbolizes the believer’s identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Lord’s Supper is to be shared by believers as a continuing memorial of the broken body and shed blood of Christ, symbolized by the partaking of two common elements, bread and the cup.
CHRISTIAN CONDUCT: We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and for the well-being of his fellowman; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; and that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions and talents. We believe that God calls believers to be salt and light in their society, where they represent Jesus Christ by opposing sin and self-centered living; and where they promote the biblical values of truth, justice and peace through a lifestyle that is characterized by the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY: We believe that religious liberty is the inalienable right of all individuals to the freedom of conscience with ultimate accountability to God. Because church and state exist by the will of God, each has distinctive concerns and responsibilities whereby they are free from control by the other. Every believer in Jesus Christ is biblically admonished to pray for civil leaders, and to obey and support government in all matters that are not contrary to Scripture.
THE LAST THINGS: We believe that God, in His own time and way, will bring all things to their appropriate end by establishing a new heaven and earth. The sure hope of the Christian is that Jesus Christ will return to earth suddenly, personally and visibly in glory according to His promise. They will be raised, and Christ will judge all mankind in righteousness. The unrighteous will be separated from God forever. The righteous, in their resurrected and glorified bodies, will receive their reward and dwell for eternity in a state of blessedness and joy in the presence of their Lord.
